Monthly drop in night for parents and guardians of transgender young people
March 2 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm
An event every month that begins at 7:00pm on day First of the month, repeating until December 7, 2017
The Sidney Borum Jr. Health Center (the youth clinic of Fenway Health, serving clients 12-29 years old), hosts a monthly drop in night for parents and guardians of trans, genderqueer, gender nonconforming, and gender questioning, young people. It’s a great opportunity for parents/guardians/caregivers to talk with a medical provider and a behavioral health provider, as well as other parents/guardians, and ask any questions or voice any concerns they have. It’s an environment where guardians (no matter their level of trans literacy) can get support and information, and process thoughts and emotions that might not feel comfortable or appropriate to talk about with the trans and GNC young people in their lives. (Really—ask us anything!) The monthly drop in night is also a place where parents/guardians/caregivers can build support and community with each other— as well as discuss strategies to better support and access resources for the trans and gender nonconforming young people they care for and about.
Monthly drop in nights are always free, and discussion topics vary depending on the needs and interests of the group. No pre-registration is required, and participants can drop in any month—and as many times as they’d like. Service providers working with transgender and gender nonconforming youth are also welcome! The drop in night is hosted at the Sidney Borum Jr. Health Center (75 Kneeland Street, 2nd floor, in Boston’s Chinatown neighborhood), and is accessible by the red, orange, and green T lines, as well as bus lines and commuter rail. Drop-in nights are on the first Thursday of every month, from 7:00pm-8:30pm. Questions? Email or call Rachel Kahn, LMHC, at firstname.lastname@example.org or 617.927.6372.
