Sally Deane, MPH, Named New VP Of Government Relations at Fenway Health

Sally Deane, MPH, is Fenway Health’s new Vice President, Government Relations.

Fenway Health is excited to announce that Sally Deane, MPH, is our new Vice President, Government Relations, joining us on July 17, 2017. Sally is stepping into a critically important role, as she will develop and manage strategies to build our presence at the city, state and federal level, while advocating for issues that impact Fenway, our patients, and the communities we care for.

Sally brings with her years of firsthand experience and knowledge of the health care industry and the unique needs of community health centers like Fenway.  Most recently, Sally was Chief Executive Officer of Outer Cape Health Services, overseeing significant patient and revenue growth and expansion of services over the course of her seven years.  She has also served as a consultant to several Boston area health care organizations and has held leadership roles on the Boards of several area non-profits.

Sally is no stranger to Fenway Health and its mission; in fact, she served as our Executive Director from 1980 to 1984, back when the then-named Fenway Community Health Center was in its infancy. She took on this leadership role during the early days of the HIV/AIDS crisis, one of the most trying times in our community, and helped our organization to not just survive, but to grow into a beacon of hope during dark days. During Sally’s tenure, Fenway received MDPH licensure for medical and mental health.

Also, in 1981 Sally, the Board and senior management completed a strategic plan that included forming the basis for The Fenway Institute, now a world class LGBT population health research institute. During this time, Sally also hired Dr. Rhonda Linde and Dr. Kenneth Mayer, two staff members who have gone on to make incredible contributions to Fenway’s long and proud history.

Sally has been an Adjunct Assistant Clinical Professor at the Boston University School of Public Health since 1993. She holds a BA in Psychology and Education from Whittier College and an MPH from Boston University.

Please join us in congratulating Sally on her new role at Fenway Health!
