Jonathan is the Senior Program Director for Academic Affairs at Harvard Medical School (HMS). He facilitates the appointments and promotions of senior faculty members by providing critical input and guidance to search and evaluation committees and individuals being considered for promotion. In 2018, he received the Sharon P. Clayborne Staff Diversity Award which recognizes individuals who have made significant achievements in moving HMS toward being a diverse and inclusive community. He was previously a faculty member in the Department of Neuroscience at Pomona College in Claremont, CA.
Throughout his academic career, he has been invested in promoting HIV and LGBTQIA+ health-related research. Jonathan formerly served as a member and Chair of The Fenway Institute’s Institutional Review Board (IRB); the committee that formally approves, monitors and reviews biomedical and behavioral research involving humans. He also served on The Fenway Institute’s Biosafety Committee. Previously, he was a member and Vice-Chair of the AIDS Research Alliance IRB in Los Angeles, CA.
Jonathan received his doctorate in neuroscience from Washington University in St. Louis. He completed post-doctoral fellowships in the Department of Otolaryngology and Communication Enhancement at Boston Children’s Hospital and in the Department of Molecular and Cellular Biology at Harvard University where he also taught.
