Nikki Alcala, MSN, RN, PHN joined Fenway Health as Executive Director of Nursing in January 2022. Nikki is an experienced public health nurse executive who focuses on health education, social justice, and advocacy. She is a passionate servant leader who strives to bring diversity, equity, and inclusion to her work on micro and macro levels. Nikki entered nursing by earning her LPN, continuing her education, earning an ASN and becoming a Registered Nurse, and being a first-generation college graduate in her family. She then earned both a BSN and then MSN in Nursing Leadership.
At Fenway Health, Nikki’s role is to work alongside nursing leaders to ensure professional nursing practice, nursing code of ethics, and patient-centered care is at the heart of the Nursing Department. In addition, Nikki will oversee the planning, organizing, and directing of all nursing and medical assistant services at Fenway Health and infection control and occupational health processes for the entire enterprise.
Before joining Fenway Health, Nikki was Nurse Leader for a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) at Oregon Health and Science University (OHSU) in Portland, Oregon where she provided leadership to all nurses and elevated transitions to professional practice in ambulatory care.
Nikki’s extensive health care background includes working as Director of Health and Wellness at Interfaith Partnerships for the Homeless, Director of Patient Services at Upper Hudson Planned Parenthood, and Director of Clinical Operations at Outside In as well as serving as current chair of the American Nurses Association (ANA) Innovation Advisory Committee for Social Determinants of Health.
