Eddie Martinez has been at Fenway Health since 2013. He is a Certified Paralegal, Certified Medical Office Administrator, a Notary Public, and holds degrees in AAS in Health Information Technology and BS in Healthcare Administration. Eddie has worked with various residential and Community programs in the Boston area (Casa Esperanza, Victory Programs, Casa Iris, Boston Living Ctr., and H.O.P.E.) and understands first-hand the needs of people with addiction and of those who are in recovery. In 2008, the Massachusetts Substance Abuse and Mental Health Corporation presented him with the Best Practices Award for helping people in recovery achieve their goals of housing, employment, and family support. Eddie started working for the Office of Medicaid, Health Safety Net Operations at the Division of HealthCare Finance and Policy in 2010 (now the Center for Healthcare Information and Analysis, CHIA), where he was a Reimbursement Analyst during the migration between Massachusetts healthcare system and the Federal Healthcare system. Since joining Fenway, Eddie has worked in the Billing Department as an A/R Associate, Patient Services handling Insurance Verification, and Behavioral Health as a Medical Case Manager.
Eddie’s clinical interests include helping patients in addressing various social determinants of health, including housing referrals, food resources, transportation to and from medical appointments for MassHealth patients, etc. He specializes in providing support and resources to HIV/AIDS patients newly diagnosed and those with years of treatment, which may include assisting with insurance issues, medication, and coordinating clinical appointments.
His hobbies include crochet, needle art, coloring books, reading, and cooking a new recipe from any cook book.
