Melissa “Misty” Cranston-Bates has been a Behavioral Health Specialist at Fenway health since 2017. She has a Master’s of Clinical Social Work from Smith College School for Social work. She is a Massachusetts CANS Certified Assessor.
Misty most recently worked as a Behavioral Health Specialist in a primary care setting at Cambridge Health Alliance. Before this she worked in community mental health as a home family therapist.
Misty’s clinical interests include intersectionality as it relates to race, class, gender, culture and sexual orientation; trauma survivorship; mood disorders; behavior change; and family systems. She draws from liberation health theory, relational cultural theory, psychodynamic theories, motivational interviewing, mindfulness, and cognitive behavioral therapy as well as solutions focused approaches.
