Tfawa Haynes, LICSW, is Fenway Health’s Coordinator of Group Psychotherapy Services. Tfawa joined Fenway in 2010 and attended the Boston University School of Social Work, The Interamerican University of Puerto Rico School of Social Work. Tfawa’s specialties include racial identity, LGBTQIA+ patients, gender affirmation and gender identity, race equity, and group psychotherapy. Tfawa’s goals include analyzing the impact of racism and other intersectional systems of oppression and marginalization in the shaping of one’s health and mental health outcomes. They aim to stimulate critical thinking, heighten self-awareness to implicit biases that we may carry, and develop systematic critical analyses that lead to identifying ways that individuals can intervene, disrupt, and dismantle systemic oppression from our locust of control. Tfawa hopes to learn and grow on a daily basis while leaving the world a better place for those to come after me.
