John-Paul Bettencourt has been a physician at Fenway Health since 2015. He received a Bachelor of Arts in Biology from the University of Vermont, a Master of Public Health from A.T. Still University, and a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from the University of New England. He completed his Residency and Chief Residency at Peconic Bay Medical Center and is certified by the American Osteopathic Board of Family Physicians in Family Medicine and Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment, and by the American Academy of HIV Medicine as a HIV Medicine Specialist.
Prior to medical school, John-Paul was an Emergency Management Specialist and Municipal Emergency Management Director, an Advanced Emergency Medical Technician for more than a decade, and a Wilderness and Prehospital Emergency Medicine instructor.
John-Paul clinical interests include LGBT medicine, Primary Care, HIV/AIDS medicine, and disaster and wilderness medicine. In his free time, he enjoys all forms of live entertainment, traveling, alpine skiing, ocean kayaking, hiking, and camping.
