Melissa Brown, LICSW is a Behavioral Health Specialist and Case Management Supervisor. Melissa previously worked as a Behavioral Health Specialist at Fenway Health from 2015-2017 and returned to Fenway in her new role in 2018. She received a Master’s Degree in Social Work and an Advanced Certificate in Group Work from Simmons College School of Social Work and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Cambridge College.
Melissa most recently worked as the Clinical Program Director at Commonwealth Land Trust, an agency that provides housing for formerly chronically homeless people with disabilities. Previously, she was the Lead Clinician at the Triangle Program, an intensive mental health treatment program for LGBTQ+ people. She completed graduate school internships at McLean Hospital and Fenway Health’s Addiction Recovery & Wellness Program.
Melissa is also an adjunct instructor at Simmons College School of Social Work, primarily teaching Social Work with Groups and Human Sexuality & Social Work. She is also on the board of the Massachusetts chapter of the International Association for Social Work with Groups.
Melissa’s specialties include group work, CBT, mindfulness, solution-focused therapy, and crisis intervention. Clinical interests include coping with medical issues and chronic pain, the impact of homelessness on mental well-being, substance use, eating disorders, depression, persistent mental illness, women’s health, and LGBTQ+ health.
