Discover Art, Change Lives At Artcetera October 27

ARTcetera, a biennial auction which raises over $700,000 for AIDS Action, invites you to discover ground-breaking art this Saturday, October 27, 2018 at The Castle at Park Plaza. ARTcetera 2018 boasts unique surprises and an elegant 200+ piece art auction including work by Juan Travieso, Danny Clinch, Salvador Dali, and many more.

Brought to life by Rafanelli Events, ARTcetera remains one of Boston’s best venues for art acquisition and one of the city’s best parties.

Helmed by Co-Chairs Laura Gassner Otting and Ruta Laukien, Curatorial Chair Olivia Ives Flores and Executive Director of AIDS Action Carl Sciortino, ARTcetera 2018 promises to be impactful. Rafanelli Events and The Catered Affair have spent months envisioning and crafting an evening to delight and surprise.

“We are in a moment when the end of HIV/AIDS is within sight! Our commitment is critical to getting to zero HIV-related deaths, zero new infections, and zero stigma by 2030,” said Gassner Otting.

“ARTcetera combines the power of art with the power of change for a truly impactful, unique event,” added Laukien.

The finest art institutions and curators in Boston and beyond contribute work to this important cause. They include: Abigail Ogilvy Gallery; deCordova Sculpture Park + Museum; Gallery Oh!; Krakow Witkin Gallery; Massachusetts College of Art and Design; Montserrat College of Art; The Museum of Fine Arts, Boston; Peabody Essex Museum; The Provincetown Art Association and Museum; The School of the Museum of Fine Arts at Tufts; and Uprise Art, as well as numerous other creative spaces featuring the best in contemporary art. Together with the dedicated host committee, they bring together intrepid entrepreneurs, bright new art world stars, and top philanthropists to support this vital organization.

Buyers across the country are able to view, bid, and buy art from ARTcetera’s 200-piece auction online at Paddle8.com. The online auction remains open until Friday, October 26 at 5 pm. Browse through the catalogue on your computer or phone. Use the Buy It Now option to secure contemporary treasures from artists including Brian Burkhardt, Emily Lombardo, Bill Thompson, Vanessa Irzyk, Clint Baclawski, Juan Travieso, Jordan Piantedosi, Kristin Texeira and many more. Bids close on Paddle8 and pick up where they left off at The Castle at Park Plaza on October 27.

Neon luminary Kate Hush will install a piece in The Castle’s Red Light District, an area where guests will discover art that champions the power and beauty of all bodies. She shares the space with the legendary Salvador Dali and collector favorite Michael Costello.

The Catered Affair will be serving an autumnal-inspired menu with flavors for every palate, from Butternut squash ravioli in brown butter to melt-in-your-mouth pork belly and cinnamon sugar beignet with hot apple cider. Attendees will celebrate local with Bully Boy, Boston’s Craft Distillery, at a sponsored whiskey tasting bar, and with Privateer Rum’s dangerously refreshing punch and rum tasting. The open bar by The Catered Affair will be well-stocked with favorites and special themed cocktails as well.
