We are excited to announce that our new Chief Financial Officer Luis Rivera has begun his role here at Fenway Health. With many years of experience leading financial operations in the healthcare industry, Luis brings expertise in financial reporting and analysis, compensation plan design, operations improvement, strategic planning, and more.
Luis previously served as CFO for Continuum Health in New Jersey and as CFO for Allegheny Health Network’s Physician Organization in Pennsylvania. Before his role at Allegheny, Luis served as Assistant Vice President of Value-Based Contracting for Northwell Health, where he was responsible for value-based contracting and strategy development within the managed care department. Luis was also the New York Market CFO for Aetna, where he led a multi-disciplinary medical cost management team and spearheaded several key initiatives to help mitigate risk related to ACA reforms.
Prior to Aetna, Luis spent a combined 10+ years serving as the Finance Director and Administrator of the Departments of Medicine at two major academic medical centers in New York: Mount Sinai Medical Center and Northwell Health. In these roles, Luis was responsible for financial operations for a faculty of 250+ physicians, 500+ support staff, and operating budgets of $200M distributed across the tripartite mission of clinical, research and education.
Luis has held leadership positions within several professional societies, including the Administrators of Internal Medicine (AIM). He is also an active member of Medical Group Management Association (MGMA) and Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA). He received a bachelor’s degree in marketing, as well as a master’s degree in healthcare administration, from Baruch College in New York.
Please join us in welcoming Luis, and also in thanking Frank Zola for serving as Acting CFO since last July. Frank has provided important stability and leadership over the past year as Acting CFO; he is returning to his prior role of Director of Finance and is working closely with Luis during this transition.
