Support Our Runners This Marathon Monday!

The 127th Boston Marathon® is just days away on Monday April 17th! Fenway Health is proud to be an official Partner of John Hancock in the Marathon Non-Profit Program. Through this program, John Hancock helps foster healthier, more equitable communities by annually donating 1,000 Boston Marathon® entries to select non-profit organizations who use them for fundraising. Last year, John Hancock Non-Profit Runners raised $11.7M for their causes.

Our three runners have been training and fundraising hard over the past few months. Meet Mel Miller, Jennifer Campbell, and Mario Nimock:

“Hey there, I’m Mel! I live in Boston, where I work in real estate development for an affordable housing nonprofit. I decided to run for Fenway Health per the encouragement of my wife Kati, who is a nurse. Having witnessed the perseverance of healthcare workers throughout the pandemic, I’m honored to support both the employees and patients of Fenway Health. When I’m not on a run or at work, I enjoy finding new trails with my dog, cooking, and drinking coffee.”

Dr. Jennifer Campbell is an Infectious Disease Senior Medical Science Liaison at Janssen Pharmaceutical Companies. After 15 years of watching from the sidelines, she decided this was the year to finally get on the starting line and raise money for a critical organization that could use some financial bolstering during these difficult times. Waiting at the finish line will be Jen’s wife, Julian, who is a NP at Fenway Health (they met 10 years ago working at The Fenway Institute!), and their 16-month-old son, Ellis.

“Hi everyone! My name is Mario, and I am an attorney in Boston. I’m also an avid runner. I wanted to run the Boston Marathon with Fenway this year because I really believe in its mission of providing access to affordable health care to people of all communities. Not only that, I have also been a Fenway patient ever since moving to Boston 15 years ago, so I know first-hand of the great care it provides. When I’m not working or running (or recovering from working or running), I’m usually spending time with my husband, Håkan, looking for new places to visit, and studying Swedish.”
