Violence Recovery Program Statement on Anti-LGBTQIA+ Harassment at Fall River Drag Queen Story Hour

Fall River is a city in Bristol County, Massachusetts, United States.

We, at the Violence Recovery Program at Fenway Health, want to stand in solidarity with the Fall River Pride Committee and the Greater Fall River LGBTQ community in denouncing the anti-LGBTQIA+ hate violence and neo-nazi protest of the monthly Drag Queen Story Hour that took place Saturday December 10, at the Fall River Public Library. Through the Drag Queen Story Hour and many other initiatives the Fall River Pride Committee has created safe and affirming spaces for the LGBTQIA+ community in Fall River. We see you and you matter. This kind of hate toward our LGBTQIA+ family is not acceptable.

We also want to remind folks that our Violence Recovery Program has a location in Fall River where we are able to see people in person or virtually. We are here and available to support any community members impacted by this traumatic event. We provide free counseling and advocacy to survivors of anti-LGBTQIA+ hate violence, intimate partner violence, and sexual assault.

Please reach out to our Fall River Counselor and Advocate, Jeffrey Glidden (He/Him), for more information or to get connected.
