Harold du Four-Anderson, M.Ed, LADC I

Harold du Four-Anderson, M.Ed, LADC I, is a Substance Abuse Transition of Care Clinician at Beacon Health Options, and has decades of HIV/AIDS advocacy and education under his belt. Harold began working at the AIDS Action Committee as a Multicultural Community Liaison in the late 80s and early 90s, where he witnessed firsthand how the AIDS epidemic was ravaging the world around him, especially Boston’s African American population.

To bring more attention to the role of LGBT communities of color in the fight against AIDS, Harold proposed an outreach initiative which in 1990 become the Bayard Rustin Community Breakfast, a yearly celebration of LGBTQ people of color that honors the legacy and spirit of civil rights leader Bayard Rustin. He is still involved with that event, and also with the AIDS Walk Boston.

In 1992, Harold was among the first class of commissioners appointed by Governor William Weld to the Governor’s Commission on Gay and Lesbian Youth. He also worked for several years as the clinical supervisor on the acute treatment services unit at the Dimock Community Health Center’s detox facility, and has years of experience in tobacco control policy, regulation and enforcement, health promotion strategies, and health disparities.
