Madge Kaplan

Madge Kaplan is a writer, editor, and communicator with over 30 years of experience developing effective ways to describe and discuss a broad range of issues in health and health care. In October 2020, she stepped down as Director of Communications at the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI), a position she defined and held for 16 years. From 2009 – 2020, Madge was the creator, host, and producer of IHI’s flagship online audio show and podcast, WIHI, resulting in over 225 programs on the work of health care improvers from all over the globe.

Prior to IHI, from 1989- 2004, Madge was an award-winning correspondent and senior editor for public radio’s nationally syndicated program, Marketplace. She developed the Marketplace Health Desk at WGBH Radio in Boston to report on the health care industry through the lens of business and financing.

Madge has a BA in Asian Studies from Brown University.
