We are pleased to announce that Dr. Aditya Chandrasekhar, Fenway Health Lead Physician for the second floor of 1340 Boylston St., has been appointed as the new Chair of the Massachusetts Medical Society (MMS) LGBTQ Committee.

The Committee on LGBTQ Matters works on enhancing MMS policy, advocacy, and education on LGBTQ health and professional issues, advocates for better access to care for LGBTQ patients, educates physicians across the Commonwealth about the unique health care issues facing LGBTQ patients, creates a relationship with the American Medical Association (AMA) advisory committee on LGBTQ issues, increases MMS membership and participation of physicians with an interest in LGBTQ issues, and provides a dedicated forum for involvement, mentoring, and networking for LGBTQ physicians and medical students.

Dr. Chandrasekhar has been involved with the committee as a member since spring of 2018 and was elected chair in June 2019. As the chair, his role is to align the committee’s work with the strategic plans of the medical society while working towards the committee’s mission.

A Physician at Fenway Health since 2014, Dr. Chandrasekhar, specializes in Internal Medicine, LGBT Health and HIV/AIDS Care. He graduated from Grant Medical College in Mumbai, India, earned his Master’s in Public Health Degree from Johns Hopkins University, and completed his residency training at University of Massachusetts Medical School.
