Starting March 4, we will be undergoing a construction project at our 1340 Boylston St. building to make some exciting improvements.
Our Optical Shop, currently located on the 6th floor, will be relocated to the first floor lobby area. This new location will be more convenient for visitors and will also allow for more patient exam space. We anticipate the new shop to be completed by mid-April.
Once the Optical Shop has relocated to the first floor, a construction project will begin to change that space into additional exam room space for the Optometry Department, allowing us to increase our capacity to see more Optometry patients by 33%.
The reception desk in the 1340 Boylston St. lobby will relocate to the area in front of where the donor wall is now. We believe this position will be more welcoming and convenient to our patients and visitors. The donor wall and other recognition plaques in the lobby will be relocated to a new space in the lobby, and the chairs currently in front of the donor wall will be relocated to ensure patients and staff have a place to meet visitors or wait for rides.
The front door will be replaced with a revolving door and an automatic side door for visitors with mobility challenges. This will help cut down on cold air coming into the building in the winter months and will be more energy efficient.
We anticipate these projects will create minimal inconvenience for patients, and are confident that the result will be a better experience for all who visit our 1340 Boylston St. offices.
