Fenway Health Communications Wins Gold in International Design Awards

We are excited to announce that the Fenway Health Communications team has been awarded Gold in the prestigious International Design Awards (IDA).

The Communications team won in the category of Multimedia/Online Advertising Design for last year’s #UsToo Sexual Assault Awareness Campaign, which highlighted the work that Fenway’s Violence Recovery Program (VRP) does with LGBTQ survivors.

The #UsToo campaign sought to raise awareness around the unique experiences of LGBTQ sexual assault survivors while promoting our Violence Recovery Program. This statewide initiative leveraged a range of MBTA advertising, radio, digital and print ads, and social media outreach. #UsToo went viral digitally in under two weeks, reaching more than 26,000 people, with 2.8K people interacting with the ads.

Fenway Health beat out the L’Oréal Group, who received Silver in the same category. Other IDA winners included Virginia Tech, Adobe Studio, and the Portland Museum of Art.

Erica Sawyer, Graphic and Digital Designer, was lead designer on the #UsToo campaign. The design team consisted of Sawyer and Elizabeth Gruber, Graphic and Digital Design Manager. Jay LaMotte, Marketing Manager, and Bren Cole, Content Creation and Social Media Manager, also contributed to the campaign’s success.

“I’m so proud of the work that we put into this project; not just as the Communications team, but with the folks from the VRP whom we interviewed, and folks from the data team who helped us identify MBTA service areas that would reach the greatest number of the target audience,” said Gruber. “I think this project is a true testament to the work we can do with a very mindful, strategic, and collaborative human-centered approach.”

According to the IDA, the awards were created “as a response to the lack of recognition and celebration for smart and sustainable multidisciplinary design. IDA exists to recognize, celebrate and promote legendary design visionaries and to uncover emerging talent in Architecture, Interior, Product, Graphic, and Fashion Design. IDA aspires to draw attention to the iconoclasm of design world wide, conceptualizing and producing great work. Farmani Group assembled IDA as the design sibling of the Annual Lucie Awards for Photography, which has emerged as one of the world’s most prestigious photography awards.”

Please join us in congratulating our Communications team on this well deserved honor!
