Fenway Health recently hosted surveyors from The Joint Commission for our regular, unannounced accreditation site visit. This site visit process, conducted every three years, is based on evolving standards in patient safety, as our industry continues to adopt increasingly rigid best practices in healthcare delivery.
The three Joint Commission surveyors who conducted the process had never visited us before, and expressed their admiration of our staff’s dedication and Fenway’s competency in serving the LGBTQ community.
During their visit, The Joint Commission offered valuable feedback and advice that we will use to continue improving our processes, strengthening patient safety standards, and increasing operational efficiencies. We consider this a very successful survey.
The Joint Commission, in reflecting national trends in healthcare, is focusing on getting to zero harm to patients. One area of focus that we will be working to improve is infection control. We will be undergoing construction at 1340 Boylston St. and Fenway: South End to create new spaces for infection control purposes, and will post updates on that progress as they are available.
A major shout out to Alicia Anderson, Director of Quality Improvement, and her team members Dana Longobardi and Jessica Glushkina for their hard work during this process. There have been many people from across the organization involved in this survey, in the preparation leading up to it and participating in both large and small ways over the past few days. Thanks to all of you for what you’ve contributed, and thank you to all our staff members, whose dedication makes Fenway Health an organization we can be proud of.
