When Marcus first came to AIDS Action, he was in visible distress. He had unprotected sex three weeks before, and he had just discovered that his partner might have tested positive for an STI.
One of our Prevention team members reassured him, and told him they were going to do two rapid blood tests, as well as send a sample out for further testing. When both blood tests came back negative, our Prevention team member spoke to Marcus about starting pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP). After receiving a final negative blood test, and working out insurance and referral details with our providers, Marcus was reassured and finally able to get on PrEP and reduce the likelihood of future scares.
