Sidney Borum, Jr. Health Program To Move To Fenway: South End

We would like to inform our Fenway Health community that effective November 7, all Sidney Borum, Jr. Health Program staff, clients, patients, programs, and services will be relocated from 75 Kneeland Street to Fenway Health’s South End location at 142 Berkeley Street. Our goals for this relocation are to:

  • Consolidate and strengthen support for our Borum clients and patients;
  • Ensure continuity of care for our patients and clients;
  • Bolster the Transgender Youth Program, ensuring broad-based, high-quality, gender-affirming care by Fenway Health physicians, clinicians, and care teams; and
  • Optimize program, training, and cost efficiencies.

Over the last year, providers at the Borum cared for 1,345 young people who made 4,857 visits. This move will not result in any loss of current programming or services to clients and patients who allow us to participate in their health care. Our highly dedicated Borum providers and staff will continue to serve at-risk youth in our community, including LGBTQIA+ young people, homeless  teens and young adults, those struggling with substance use, involved with gangs, or doing sex work.

This move will also facilitate more robust programming with dedicated support staff, just one mile from the Borum’s former location.  We are intentionally strengthening our care team for trans and gender-diverse young people and their families by co-locating these services. Fenway’s dedication to supporting trans youth will increase access to behavioral health providers and care coordinators, while continuing to count on care from medical leaders and providers, such as Dr. Ralph Vetters, Medical Director of the Borum, and Samantha Hodgins, NP, among other outstanding staff with experience in this care.

Additionally, providers at Fenway South End who are also caring for younger patients will have expanded access to Dr. Vetters’ expertise. Ultimately, this will better serve our patients and enable us to provide enhanced, consistent care. Locating all of our Borum care and services in one location will ultimately enhance integration, training, quality, and – most importantly – patient and client experience.

Patients and clients may schedule an in-person or telehealth visit by calling the same phone number, 617.457.8140, or communicate through myborum.org. Behavioral Health staff will be located on the 4th floor of the new location and appointments may be scheduled by calling 617.927.6204. As programming is consolidated, Fenway plans to simplify scheduling at Fenway: South End to improve the patient experience.

Our providers and staff are working diligently to make this transition as seamless as possible for you. If you have any questions, please reach out to the Patient Relations Team by calling 617.927.6178.
