Update: South End & Borum Move from 142 Berkeley Street

Entrance to 1340 Boylston Street
We want to provide an update on the upcoming move of care and services from 142 Berkeley Street (the South End) to 1340 Boylston Street that will happen this summer and answer questions that have come up in conversations with many of you.
We have confirmed plans to place providers and care team members on a floor at 1340 Boylston Street with other Fenway Health providers in the same specialty and keep them together. This will allow your care team to continue to work collaboratively to foster connections and care for you in the most efficient way. This has been what has made the feel of Fenway: South End and the Borum so special.
Departments and services will move to the following locations at 1340 Boylston Street:
  • Pharmacy: 1st Floor
  • Internal Medicine: 2nd and 3rd Floors
  • Reproductive Health: 4th Floor
  • Family Medicine & the Borum: 5th Floor
  • Behavioral Health: 7th Floor
As a reminder, everyone will have direct access to other services at 1340 Boylston Street that are not available at 142 Berkeley Street, such as:
  • Optical Shop: 1st Floor
  • Specialties: 4th Floor
  • Dental and Optometry: 6th Floor
  • Mammography and Radiology: 4th Floor
  • Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) program: 2nd Floor
We’ve heard some common questions in speaking with many of you since the announcement.
Why didn’t we stay in the South End?
Despite our best efforts during lease renewal negotiations, we were not able to reach an agreement to stay at 142 Berkeley Street. Hoping to remain in the neighborhood, we put serious consideration into several alternative spaces in the South End. However, we quickly found that available office building spaces could not be easily converted to meet the Department of Public Health and accessibility requirements for a health center.
After conversations with the Board of Directors and focus groups including staff and patients, moving to 1340 Boylston Street emerged as the best way to ensure you continue to receive high-quality primary care, including LGBTQIA+- and gender-affirming care and behavioral health services, in a welcoming environment that you have come to rely on from the care team who knows you best.
What is the best way to get to 1340 Boylston Street and what is the parking situation?
1340 Boylston Street is located near Fenway Park between Jersey and Kilmarnock Streets. The MBTA’s Green Line is the best public transportation option. The closest stops are Kenmore and Fenway. The closest Orange Line stop is Ruggles Station. The 55 Bus from Copley Square will drop you off just steps from 1340.
There is parking underneath 1330 Boylston Street and there are several public parking lots, garages, and metered spots in the neighborhood. The cost for parking varies. The Spot Hero app can be a great resource to use to find the cheapest parking in the area.
There are bike parking posts on Boylston Street and surrounding side streets where you can park and lock your bike or scooter. Bicycles and scooters are not permitted inside 1340 Boylston.
Visit our website for a map of the neighborhood and links to helpful information including the Google and MBTA Trip Planners.
The next update will provide you with more specific information about the move date, the exact location different Internal Medicine providers, and an invitation to an open house at 1340 Boylston Street where you will meet the many Fenway Health staff who are eager to welcome you to your new healthcare home.
Thank you again for choosing Fenway Health and letting us participate in your healthcare. It is an honor and privilege to care for you.
